Many parts scared me a great deal. I loved the film, however, and my family would watch it every Christmas when it was broadcast on TV for years. Unfortunately, when Ted Turner got a hold of it, and the rights to it, some of the most intense bits were permanently cut out of the film, and I have never found them (or any reference to them) again. In particular, a scene from the book, where Marley is trying to convince Scrooge that he is 'real' and not an hallucination, he unwraps the bandage under his chin, and his jaw falls to his chest, in a great bit of special effects work. Gone forever, I guess. Terrifying, sure!!....? Also, in the 'invented' scene in Hell, Marley's parting words to Scrooge are 'Beware the rats, they like to nibble!' The camera then pans down to show rats indeed swarming and starting to chew on Scrooge's legs! Also permanently cut from any existing copies of the film. I've searched every video tape issue, even the old Laserdisc version. Too bad! I would love to see these restored!groovypunkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07258992515910490921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984964138092970663.post-84513220171875392712019-12-26T16:40:02.165-05:002019-12-26T16:40:02.165-05:00Brilliant movie! I always watch it at Christmas, and cry my eyes out over it. It makes me appreciate life so much more. Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06324395535551189532noreply@blogger.com
