My hotel (I'm in Indianapolis) TV doesn't even carry Fox--so I guess I'll have to watch it on-line :(Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06332977249074073942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984964138092970663.post-27417266937047882742010-12-06T23:24:59.063-05:002010-12-06T23:24:59.063-05:00@Bob: I've been going nuts trying to find my ...@Bob: I've been going nuts trying to find my post where I already wrote about the original 'Black Christmas.' I wrote about it in my first book 'The Christmas TV Companion' and I'm asked about it all the time. It turns out this last July I guest blogged on another site about it. So thanks for the suggestion--I'll post here about it soon.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06332977249074073942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984964138092970663.post-67299739820691063222010-12-06T15:38:51.384-05:002010-12-06T15:38:51.384-05:00Thanks, another great post. You really nailed the "built-in nostalgia" factor here.

If anyone's interested, you can listen to a whole bunch of Jean Shepherd's old radio shows through this free podcast:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-brass-figlagee/id129951381

Check out Episode #44 to hear Shepherd tell the 'Red Ryder BB Gun' story, recorded in 1974. Episodes 45 & 46 also feature Christmas related stories.

Unrelated to 'A Christmas Story':
Thanks for posting about the 'Simpsons' Christmas short on 11/25,I'd never seen it before. Here's another Simpsons Christmas short that may be new to you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXVLP2FY7_wJ.A. 'In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash' is actually a collection of short stories, and in their original form, not all of them take place anywhere even close to Christmas. Clark and Sheppard reworked the material into one coherent piece, and the rest is movie history. Clark also directed another Christmas movie, the early seventies slasher flick 'Black Christmas'. Hope to see you tackle that one soon.Bob Igniziohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03630416222197419152noreply@blogger.com
