Christmas TV Party 2015: Mark Lusti

Christmas TV Party 2015: Mark Lusti
1) What Christmas program/movie have you seen more times than any other?

Charlie Brown Christmas, Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation.

2) What is your favorite musical Christmas TV special, variety performance, or holiday song in a movie?
My all time favorite  musical Christmas special was Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Nowadays its pretty much just Michael Buble, sure various country artists have specials, however they don't try to stylize the songs they are doing.

3) What's your favorite TV or movie adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol?
Actually I have seen so many versions of this on TV and stage that I'm sort of "burnt out" on this movie.  Usually pass over this the past few years.

4) What do you think is the worst Christmas program/movie--or your least favorite, the most disappointing, or most overrated?
The movie that I really don't get as having a real Christmas connection, is Edward Scissorhands. Or in music, my least favorite is " I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas."

"The Cop and the Anthem" Christmas episode from from The Red Skelton Show.

5) If you were asked to give advice to a TV network executive in charge of holiday programming, what would you suggest?

Rerun the old 60s- 70s TV specials. Red Skelton, Honeymooners etc. As well as make sure you run all the animated ones also.

  1. Enjoyed your Christmas picks, Mark! Charlie Brown and Christmas Vacation are two great choices that have certainly played many, many times in our home, too!

I totally get the being "burnt out" on "A Christmas Carol". While it is a beautiful story, it has been done so many times, and not always well.

    Happy Christmas in July!

  2. Thanks for participating Mark. I sure wish they'd release that Kenny and Dolly Christmas TV special on DVD--or air it on TV. Thanks for the reminder.
